Bec & Bridge
Becky Cooper and Bridget Currer, founders of the label bec&bridge, met on their first day at the University of Technology Sydney. It didn't take long for these two fashion students to become inseparable, spending every waking moment together. Little did they know that a year later they would be in business together.
It was in 2001, during their second year of study that the girls received a request from a friend for the duo to help him inject new life into an old pair of jeans. This set off the label bec & bridge. News of their creations spread across Sydney and with a steadily growing demand for their denim designs, the girls fell into the successful production and distribution of men's jeans.
With two years of study still to go, the girls spent their time juggling a small business with a full-time design course. Gradually, they evolved into a men and women's wear label.
In 2003, Becky and Bridget graduated from UTS, their final collection helping them secure the inaugural Australian Business Limited Fashion and Textile Award.
bec & bridge fuses sculptural elements, objects and architecture to create playful, interactive clothing for men and women. It combines the unexpected and awakens the senses with fresh palettes of dynamic colour and vibrant textiles.
bec & bridge featured in Mercedes Australian Fashion Week in the New Generation Show, in May 2004 and the Ready to Wear Collection Show in Melbourne in October 2004.
