Leading Australian label Jaakan took off in Melbourne after just two years and is now stocked in some of the most influential boutiques throughout Australia.

Designers Mary Zaf and Pippa Joseph created the label by combining kooky personalities with pure talent, dedication and an unwavering pledge never to sell out to mainstream hyperbole.

Both exceptionally experienced in the fields of fashion, Mary spent three years as an assistant designer / state manager for a large men’s wear chain developing designs. Pippa had worked as a quality assurance officer for national children’s wear wholesaler for four years. Sparks flew when these two met and after many a late night and their individual dreams of world fashion domination hatched, Jaakan was born. In the time since, Jaakan has been a steadily growing force, now teetering on the edge of global takeover. Not content to conform to the perceptions of what a designer should be, these refreshing, yet notable ladies are taking a step away from the trend following approach to design and doing purely what they love.

With beautiful vintage fabrics sourced from across the globe and original designs to set heads turning, Jaakan has had a strong demand in the up-to-the-minute inner-city market.
